The three Company Captains: Wilson, McMaster and Downie
Trevor H. Wilson, Lendrick McMaster and Harry O. Downie — the 24th's first three Captains.
1927–1952

Lendrick McMaster, M.B.E.

The first Captain, persuaded to lead the new venture by elder James Price. He led for twenty-five years, setting the standards of character that defined the 24th, and was awarded the M.B.E. on retirement from the Northern Ireland Electricity Board. Read more in Our Story →

1952–1963

Harry O. Downie

A foundation member of the Company as a boy, he graduated through every non-commissioned rank before being invited to succeed McMaster. His decade brought a strong sports and badge programme and was as successful as any period in the Company's history.

1963–1977+

Trevor H. Wilson

One of the youngest captains ever to command a large Belfast company. Captain through the Golden Jubilee in 1977, he later resigned a career in insurance to train for the Christian ministry.
