In its first fifty years the Company knew just three Captains — a continuity that became the foundation of its honourable record.

The first Captain, persuaded to lead the new venture by elder James Price. He led for twenty-five years, setting the standards of character that defined the 24th, and was awarded the M.B.E. on retirement from the Northern Ireland Electricity Board. Read more in Our Story →
A foundation member of the Company as a boy, he graduated through every non-commissioned rank before being invited to succeed McMaster. His decade brought a strong sports and badge programme and was as successful as any period in the Company's history.
One of the youngest captains ever to command a large Belfast company. Captain through the Golden Jubilee in 1977, he later resigned a career in insurance to train for the Christian ministry.
